With graduation just around the corner, Family One is preparing for the new beginning that lies ahead as well as enjoying the last days they have left with their December grads.

The list of Family One students who made the boys’ basketball team, the girls’ basketball team, and the cheerleading squad were released early in the month. Jelyanne M., Georgia P., Sheree B. and Ashley P. made the girls’ basketball team. Chris R. and Andrew A. made the boys’ team. Jon H., Natasha S., Sean S. and Kelsey B. made the cheerleading squad.

Kevin T. brought back a trophy for second place from the first debate tournament of the season.

Several Family One students plan to participate in one or more of the upcoming tournaments.

The presidential election stirred up some excitement among Family One students and staff. When Father Stephen Morris announced that Barack Obama was to be the next U.S. president during chapel services on November 5, several Family One students jumped for joy.

Thanksgiving was a great holiday for Family One. Several students were given the chance to visit their families over the holiday and were very grateful for the opportunity.

Those who did not get a visit still enjoyed the holiday with the traditional meal and atmosphere of Thanksgiving and the day off from school.

Family One will be sad to see December graduates Anna C., Jelyanne M., Elissa B., Yoni S., Kevin T., Patrick P., and Nick N. go, but they are happy for them and confident that they all will do well when they leave.

The graduates will leave behind their legacies as the graduates before them have, and their shoes will be filled by the next semester’s seniors.

Andrew A., Chris R., Chris G., and Andrew S. got work study.

Andrew A. enjoyed his first home visit to Atlanta, Georgia over the Thanksgiving holiday. Elissa B. welcomed Emilie M. to Family One as her buddy.

Sean S. welcomed new student Frank D. as his first buddy as well. Jelyanne M. received news that she will be graduating in December of 2008 rather than June of 2009 and was ecstatic at the fact.
