November was filled with sports, preparation for graduation and change. As soccer ended, boys’ and girls’ basketball and cheerleading began, taking eleven of Family Three’s students. Kassia B. and Denise T. are two of the Lady Falcons’ basketball captains. “I was very enthused when I found out,” said Kassia with a wide grin.
The December graduates have been enjoying their last month. Colleges have replied; Christian O. and Jack S. were accepted to Montclair State in New Jersey. Jack was also accepted to Ramapo College in New Jersey. Sung H. and Rafael S. are still waiting for a reply. The graduates did get to participate in one final family activity before their departure. The first and second weekends of November, staff member Pam Allen brought in supplies for the students to repaint the living room and build a shelf in the boot closet. The crew consisted of about half the family and they worked diligently. “I had a lot of fun with the graduates. I was working with Sung, he showed me new techniques; I am going to miss him very much,” said Family Three student Tony W.
Towards the middle of November, the moment June grads have all been waiting for arrived. The December to June semester work study list was posted. Zak M. will be working for maintenance, Julie C. for woodcarving, Shari M. for counseling and Britney L. for laundry and business office. “I was excited and nervous when I found out, said Britney. Denise T. is the new girls’ dorm leader, and Mike D. will take over for the boys. This is not the only change Family Three will be undergoing.
Family leader Cindy Argiros told the family as of the New Year she will no longer be working at The Family Foundation School. Starting the week after December graduation, Family Eight Leader Lindy McCarthy will be moved into Family Three where she will take Cindy’s place as family leader.
