Staff member Caren Jacques has started a shawl-knitting ministry group in Family Five during activity periods A and B for those who care to join.
The concept of a knitting ministry comes from the book Knitting Into The Ministry by Susan S. Jorgensen and Susan S. Izard.
The shawls the group makes will be blessed by The Family Foundation School’s own Episcopal priest, Father Liz. The knitting pattern is in threes, which symbolizes among other things the Holy Trinity.
“The one I’m making now is the color of my birthstone for myself, but the next will be for someone special,” said Jacques.
“I have two people in mind that are dear to me that I want to make these for. I hope I finish them before Christmas,” said staff member Veronica Heesh.
