Show The Christmas Spirit With Presents Made, Not Bought

Many people are tight on money this holiday season. At times it can be complicated to find a gift that your loved ones will enjoy. Many students at The Family Foundation School agree that the best gifts are those that “come from the heart” – homemade gifts.
With only the use of a few craft supplies, many different items can be made. Cards, picture collages, earrings, necklaces, candle holders, scarfs, and jewelry boxes are easy to make and are enjoyed by both adults and children alike.
Nicole K., student, said “when I made gifts for my family they were mostly collages because they are easy to make and my family loved them.” Laura W., student, enjoys making different items for her family. Laura’s favorites are ornaments, cards, and scarves that are crocheted.
“People love to get things that they know you made,” said staff member Betsy Rock. Rock is in charge of a craft class which is available to students on Sunday afternoons. Rock said this year the students will have the opportunity to make wreaths, garlands, and different needle work for their families.
With the upcoming holidays, the students are starting to think about what creative and entertaining gifts they will make for their parents this year. Most students will suggest that a holiday card is the way to go because it’s easy to make and different messages can be included inside.
For this holiday season, be creative and make something that everyone will enjoy, no matter how old they are. It’s Christmas time: get creative!
