“How are we doing today, guys?” Bob Runge would ask.
“Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, Bob!” the kids would respond.
If you’re all wondering where that tradition came from, well, Bob Runge, known to most as Uncle Bob, once urged the kids to be more enthusiastic in the morning. Later, he asked them how they were doing, they responded in jest, “Brighteyed and bushy-tailed Bob!” The response has stuck around ever since.
Uncle Bob started working at the school in May 1990, but has been a part of the community since 1987. Since he has been at the school he has shared his experience, strength and hope not just in one family but four (2, 3, 4 and 7)!
After being here for so many years, he has watched the school develop into what it is today. “It was very rewarding,” Uncle Bob said about working here.
Uncle Bob’s advice for anyone trying to live a sober and happy life is to “Surrender To Win.”
