Once Natalaya Kuchukov stepped down from her position as supervisor of laundry at The Family Foundation School to begin teaching Russian, her post needed to be filled by someone who had as much love for the students and the job as she had. Connie Wormuth stepped up to the challenge.
Wormuth was originally introduced to The Family School working with Bulldog Maintenance, a company that cleaned the school at night.
Rita Argiros offered Wormuth a job which entailed cleaning houses for the school and supervising the girls’ laundry on Saturdays when Kuchukov was not in. After doing the job for two years, Wormuth was again offered a position by Argiros to step into a more permanent role at FFS.
When Wormuth was first asked to become a full time laundry staff person, she admitted that “at first it was scary, and it was challenging.” Despite her fears, she said she decided to take the job because, “it would give me the opportunity to share my faith, and that was one of the most important things to me.”
Wormuth has not only been helping kids do their laundry, she has been giving a lot of advice and hope to the kids in Family Seven. Wormuth said that she has a “passion for children.” Gianfranco V. says that Wormuth “really cares about the kids and has a lot of insight at the table.”
