Family Four has gone through a lot of changes going into 2009. The family said goodbye to Miranda B., Steven B., Dave F., Eric G., and Sarah K. who all graduated from The Family Foundation School in December.
Family Four was sad to see the graduates leave, but the loss didn’t keep them from welcoming new students and staff from Family Eight with open arms. Staff members Ed Leung, Alex Carroll, and Shari Carroll all made the transition from Family Eight to Family Four in January. Chris L. and Jimmy K. entered Family Four from Family Eight and were ready for the change.
Chris L., when asked about how the transition went for him, said “It was alright; it’s basically the same family, just different people. The staff are cool and I get to know more people.” According to Family Leader Joe Petriella, Chris is already stepping up and is doing quite well in Family Four.
Family Four students who remained after December graduation have also been working hard to fill in the gap left by the graduates. Chris B., the only anchor to remain after December graduation, has been helping the other students in Family Four step up. JT H., Robbie O., and Sarah W. all received buddying and shadowing, Sarah receiving her first buddy on January 14. Nick A., Raja A., Patrick C., and Sarah W. all received junior sponsoring as well.
Students spend their free time participating in a variety of activities. Whether they are sitting around listening to staff member James Kavarnos play the guitar, or they’re playing the guitar themselves, Family Four students are always looking to have a good time. Some kids like to get outside to play a game of football, and some like to just kick back and listen to music or watch a movie.
