What do I know about the Village of Hancock?
Back in the summer of 1994 I came to Hancock and purchased a cabin on 17 beautiful acres on Lang Road off Rd. 268, in Upper Cadosia. The welcome I got from everyone in the town and village was warm and friendly. Coming from a relatively big city, (White Plains, Westchester County, New York) the welcome was a breath of fresh air. Since then I have made new friends, and Hancock has become my home. At present I’m a resident of the village. Throughout the years I have been able to appreciate:
- The good nature of the village residents.
- Their willingness to assist if there is a need.
- How hard the village residents work to raise their children.
- How faith sustains them in their everyday lives.
- Anywhere I go in the village I’m greeted with courtesy and respect.
- How the high cost of village taxes and sewer and water costs are diminishing the quality of life for the village residents.
What do I want to give the Village of Hancock?
- Will apply for different funding sources in order to reduce village property taxes and water and sewer costs to village residents.
- Will work with existing organizations in the area to bring in new jobs.
- Will be available to village residents at minimum twice a week – one time during the day and the second time in the evening.
- Will listen to each individual Village employee’s suggestions on how to improve services to the community as well as how to improve the employees’ working conditions.
- Will be open to suggestions from all.
- Will only get paid one dollar per year and will not take medical insurance.
- Will make services to the village more efficient and effective.
- Will bring progress but at the same time keep the small town/village atmosphere and quaintness.
- Coordinate and cooperate with other municipalities to improve purchase power.
- Create an Employee of the Month program to give validity and show appreciation to village workers.
- Will keep the village resident informed of new initiatives and policy changes as they happen.
CONTRARY TO RUMORS, I WILL NOT ELIMINATE OR REDUCE THE FIRE OR POLICE DEPARTMENTS
