Ted T. knows what it means to be a hard worker.
A father of two, basketball coach, and Family Foundation School graduate, Ted has been working at The Family School since June of 1998.
Before he started working at The Family School, Ted graduated with a high school diploma in 1991. “When I came here, I really struggled with the idea of spirituality.” said Ted. After earning a high school diploma, Ted continued living at the school for about two years while he was working and going to college. “I began to use the people around me as a higher power. A group of thirty or forty people knows much better than I do.” explained Towsley.
Ted explained that during his first few years at the school he was very involved in student activities. “I was working on the floor doing things like enrollments and running study halls on a regular basis…that lasted for a couple of years.”
Next, Ted moved to the IT department and worked with Shari Carroll. Soon after that, he began working as an Admissions Counselor, which is his current position at The Family School.
In the student body, Ted is best known as the coach of the boys’ basketball team. Many outsiders only see Ted while he is motivating the team, but the boys know him on a more personal level.
“He’s a really funny guy who’s easy to get along with. He loves to joke around on the bus,” said Austin C., a member of the team. Another member of the team, Henry W., said “Ted helps me out a lot. It’s hard sometimes to take criticism from him because he is very serious at times, but if you take the criticism, it helps so much.” Most members of the basketball team agree that Ted helps them out the most by offering constructive criticism, not only as a coach on the ball-court, but as a mentor in life situations.
