Miranda B.
Class of December ‘08
“This place saved my life,” said Family Four alumni Miranda B. who was back for a visit in mid-February. Since leaving in December life has been good. Miranda attends Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. Her major is sociology. Her advice to students who will be attending college in the near future is “don’t stay in the dorm too much.” What has helped her is taking walks and finding productive activities to keep her occupied.
When she is not in school, Miranda spends her time with friends she has made at the college or alumni from The Family Foundation School. The relationship that she and her parents share has had bumps in the road, but she respects them more than ever. Miranda is not in the program, but she goes to meetings when she needs support. Prayer was a big part of her life while she was at FFS, and it continues to be a key ingredient for staying strong. Recently, Miranda has been looking around for a church to attend.
For the newcomer, she advises, “Stay in the day; realize that people here are only trying to help.”
