Family One jumped into some healthy, fun activities in February.

Family leader Robin Ducey’s heart monitor research project is was kicked into full gear and the kids are loving it.

Family One has also gotten some added fun on their “Cabin Fever” trip to Binghamton, N.Y. Family leaders Mike and Robin Ducey along with Family Four leaders Joe and Jackie Petriella and The Family School administration planned the trip so the students could go rollerskating, play lasertag, and eat a hearty meal at Old Country Buffet. “The trip should be all about fun, and we may even slap a heart monitor on one of the kids,” Mike Ducey joked.

Dan C. and his family donated two competition-sized ping pong tables to the school so the kids can have some added fun during gym classes and on weekends.

Another special event which started in February is Family One’s ecumenical service. Father Stephen Morris is putting on a special service for Family One once a month so the Christians, Jews, Muslims, and all other religions can celebrate together in their own way. Andrew S. and Aneeb A. are the only two Muslim students at The Family Foundation School and are excited for the service. “I feel good that Father Stephen is giving us time to celebrate in the chapel, and I support others in trying to find their higher power,” said Andrew. They pray together every other night.

Family One students have also been working hard to keep helping each other out and spreading the message of Alcoholics Anonymous. Nash B. received the responsibilities of buddying and shadowing in February, and has been giving his best effort to help out new students and kids going through a rough time.

Dan and Andrew S. both went on their first visits home since coming to FFS. Andrew A. also went on a home visit this month. Andrew A. and Andrew S. both looked at prospective colleges on their visits to see which college might be the right choice for them. Andrew S. looked at St. Mary’s College in Maryland, the University of Mary Washington and George Mason in Virginia, and American Univeristy in Washington D.C.
