Change has been a major theme for the students of Family Six. Everyone has been coming together as a family, despite all of these changes going on.

Family Six recently let go of a well-admired anchor, Laura W., who has been a major support in the family. Laura moved up to Family Seven this past month to help out the girls.

The loss of Laura allowed some of the students in Family 6 to step up.

Regina C. and Lavinia L. are continuing to put their principles first.

Shari E. received shadowing and has been helping her struggling peers move along as new and different issues arise at the school and in her family.

Thomas Wood became Family Six’s new Family Leader as of last month. Wood explained that there are many changes going on in the family and it is going to be hard, but, “Change is good.”

Wood and fellow Family Leader Christine Speicher have been getting to know each other.

The family has also been anxiously waiting for the end of the remodeling of their family which began in January.

As June graduation continues to get closer, Speicher hopes that some of the middle road students can begin to take on the role of senior members in the family.

Family Six also enjoyed a snow tubing trip at the end of February. The trip had been postponed from Christmas break in December due to poor weather conditions. They traveled with Families 1, 4 and 7 to Greek Peak in Cortland, N.Y.

Softball and golf tryouts were held throughout the month. Two students tried out for gold. Alex B. made the team. Jill M. made the softball team.

Tyler W. was chosen for a math challenge this month.

The weather improved for a short week in February, allowing the students to spend some time outdoors.

The family enjoyed a visit from alumni Brian S. The kids were happy to see him doing well. Many kids had the chance to catch up with him and talk about his life since leaving The Family School.
