“It’s been a rough month, but by pulling together to help out, we are going to be fine,” said Family Seven Leader, Dawne Possemato. There has been a shortage of senior girls, due to the absence of two leading members and an increase of newer students.
With only seven girls in the family, Laura W. was switched from Family Six to join her sister, Sophie, and to contribute as a support. Rosie E. has helped out in Family Seven for a few weeks and was later switched from Family Two to Family Seven. “The girls throughout the school have been coming to me and volunteering to help and stay with our girls,” said Possemato.
The boys are also doing their best to pull together and get through the hard times that are going on in the school. They have picked up the snow shoveling crew which is lead by Max L. Brendan O. has received a buddy, and his first junior sponsee, Yves K.
Before the end of the month, the boys were put on house blackout and blackout with girls, which placed restrictions on the number of students they can talk to outside of their family, as well as the girls in Family Seven. They are also on blackout in the dorm.
On a positive note, Family Seven went snow tubing during a snowy winter day. The trip occurred on February 22, and everyone had a fun time tubing with friends and staff.
The family spent the morning half of the day on the slopes, and before they had a chance to turn into icicles they ate lunch on the bus and returned to the school. “I had a lot of fun,” said Claire V., after returning from the exciting trip.
Softball and golf are next on the list for interscholastic sports. Austin C., Nick P., Josh W., Henry W., Brendan O., Drew L. have signed up for golf. The first of four tryouts was held on February 7. There were no Family Seven girl candidates for softball.
Although June graduation is four months away, brainstorming for graduation speeches has begun. Four students, Laura W., Nat L., Gianfranco V., and Claire V., are looking forward to graduation and rejoining their families at home in June.
