Melissa T.
June Class of 2008
Melissa T. paid a visit to The Family Foundation School on Family Day, Saturday March 21. Melissa stopped by to watch the Family Players perform and to reminisce with old friends about the good times they had at the school. “Life is amazing,” she said. Melissa, who is a Family One graduate of June ‘08, is currently attending college at St. Thomas. “A lot of people are afraid that they won’t know how to have fun while staying sober,” Melissa commented, “but it’s really easy.”
She struggles with being rigorously honest, which she used to think was just a Family School thing, but has learned that it applies to real life as well. She overcomes life’s challenges with the help of good friends, her family, her sponsor, and the fellowship of A.A. She attends meetings everyday and is well-connected with Alcoholics Anonymous. She also attends young people’s conventions regularly. Melissa and her sponsor have even set up a young people’s meeting.
“Don’t drink, and go to meetings,” is Melissa’s advice for the students at The Family Foundation School. Melissa is having a great time being sober and loves her life outside of The Family School.
