With only seven hours left before turning 18 years old, Troop 174’s Sean M. completed his Eagle Scout project at the Hancock Police Department on Sunday, March 1.
Sean has been in the Boy Scouts since sixth grade. He was a Cub Scout in elementary school and advanced to a Boy Scout shortly after earning his “Arrow of Light.”
Influenced by drugs and alcohol, Sean stopped being a support in the Scouts during his freshman and sophomore year. He dropped out when he was sent away to a therapeutic program in tenth grade.
A year later, Sean arrived at The Family Foundation School. He decided that it was time to turn his life around and finish what he started. He joined the FFS Boy Scouts and has been a member of Troop 174 for almost a year now. Sean has displayed outstanding leadership skills.
For his Eagle Scout project, Sean built a brochure holder and a display case for the Hancock Police Department. He washed and polished the ancient wood that covers the front of the department.
With the support from Troop 174’s Assistant Scoutmaster Chris Evaninsky, Scoutmaster Bruce Hutchison, and fellow scouts, Sean successfully completed his project and is waiting for his Eagle Scout Board of Review.
“I felt relieved but extremely grateful for the things I have accomplished with God in my life,” said Sean.
