A recent decline in student participation in extracurricular activities prompted the administration to find a solution. They asked student government for help carrying out their idea. They came up with was the idea for an “Extracurricular Day,” modeled like a job fair with different booths for each activity.
After lunch on April 23, the students entered the gym where tables of presentations were lined up. Students currently involved in an activity were picked to run their table and present their activity. “Each table had its own personality,” said Megan R., president of student government. The students were able to visit all of the booths and sign up for whatever activities interested them. The displays included information about each activity, such as requirements to join, what they do and when they meet.
Refreshments were also provided for the students who attended Extracurricular Day.
The “cake walk” was a popular attraction at the event. Students went up onto the stage by family and walked through hula hoops to try to win a Tastee Cake.
Overall, the students at The Family Foundation School had a great time at Extracurricular Day. There was a great turnout and a lot of students signed up for extracurricular activities. Everybody involved with the setup did a wonderful job. Students are expanding their horizons with new ways to have fun here at FFS.
