Family leaders Christine Speicher and Thomas “Woody” Wood are enjoying their time with Family Six this month.

“The family is full of healthy relationships between the students and staff. Our family is doing good, but there are some struggles, as seen in every family, but ours are with the certain individuals. The family seems to have a lot more unity,” said student Lavinia L.

“We have a lot of pride within our family, and there are a lot of people holding each other accountable, which is the key to having a successful family,” explains Joe Barbiere.

“It is a blessing to give back, and an amazing experience to be a part of Family Six. It has transformed me from a selfish, self-centered person to a loving, compassionate person. Everyone is so unified and helps each other with their struggles,” said Lavinia.

“The various students without the struggles will shift their focus to the individuals with the struggles, and accommodate them. The students cannot do it themselves without the help of the staff, and the staff cannot run the family without the help of the students,” said Barbiere.

There is a high staff and student involvement, which brings about the aspect of the family’s success and unity.

Turner L. stepped up this month, receiving buddying and shadowing inside of the family.

There will be a BBQ held in June at Barbiere’s house. Barbiere exclaimed, “The kids will have a great time swimming, fishing in the pond, and playing ball!”

Everyone is excited for, and looking forward to going to the Family Foundations School chef’s house for a BBQ.
