The Lady Falcons softball team fought hard during their first home game against Franklin. They lost, however, with a final score of 8-4 Franklin on April 14.
The top of the first inning started off with Franklin first up to bat. Denise T., the Falcons’ pitcher, had a good first inning allowing only one run to get by. At the bottom of the first, the girls’ first time up to bat, Kassia B. was walked. Kassia later worked her way around the field to steal home and bring the Falcons into a tied up game.
The top and bottom of the second inning no runs were scored for either team. At the top of the third inning the Falcons allowed three runs in, and in the bottom of the inning the Falcons scored no runs. In the fourth inning the Falcons let in 2 runs and again scored none. The fifth inning was where the Falcons really flew home gaining three runs and allowing no batter from Franklin to make it home. Denise made it a quick inning getting three quick outs in a row. During the fifth inning Nadine N. and Nicole K. both caught fly balls that could have given the Franklin team a few runs home.
The sixth and seventh innings the Falcons put in a lot of effort, but it wasn’t enough to soar to a victory for them, allowing two runs for Franklin each inning.
For their first home game the Falcons played hard with Denise ending the game with 13 strikeouts, pitching the whole game. Nicole, Kassia, and Denise each brought in an RBI.
Head coach Missy Dunlap said, “At this point we are still in the building and learning process but as time goes past, we should succeed in wining.”
