One of the essential aspects of any 12-step program is a spiritual connection. A spiritual connection is about having faith in something greater than yourself, and knowing that you must rely on that power.
Although a specific religious connection is not necessary for spirituality, many people turn to religion to aid them in their spiritual journey.
On April 11, Five FFS students, Tyler W., Chris B., Lavinia L., Victor M., and Khalifani M., chose to enter into the Catholic Church as their means of connection.
It is common for teenagers and adults who get baptized to do so during the Easter Vigil. This year was the first time that the Easter Vigil has been held at FFS, along with Mass on Holy Thursday and a service on Good Friday.
Many non-Catholic students joined the Easter Vigil to support their friends along their new spiritual path.
Baptism is about transformation. Theotokis once said, “We begin the process of becoming Christ-like.” Father Stephen said, “This does not mean that they must imitate Jesus, but that they would live their own lives as beautifully, truthfully, generously, and kindly as He lived His.”
