Admissions
The Family Foundation School welcomed five new families in April. Tom Miller, Clinical Director of Adirondack Leadership Expeditions, visited FFS in April to meet with students that had been sent to that wilderness program prior to coming to the school. Jeff Brain, Vice President of External Affairs and Director of Admissions, attended a fair for schools in Bermuda. He met with the Director of Child and Family Services there as well as social workers and counselors from the schools.
Performing Arts
In the words of Tom Kovaleski, the Chairman of the department, this is a “very, very exciting time.” This month, the Performing Arts department prepared for its international competition at the North American Music Festival. The mixed chorus, men’s chorus, women’s chorus, and show choir made the trip to Hershey, Pa. on April 30. All of the numbers performed in the competition, with the addition of four dances, will be performed at FFS on May 8 and for Family Day, May 9.
Athletics
The golf and softball seasons are fully underway. The softball team won their first game of the season at Tri-Valley on Wednesday, April 22. The golf team has completed three matches and is still looking for its first victory. They are shorthanded, with only nine players, and are looking to pick up a player or two. Andrew A. is leading the team this season.
Maintenance
In April, the maintenance crew worked on completing the new dorm and making small repairs around the campus. The electricity in the new dorm is 95% finished and has been inspected. The plumbing is 75% finished and inspection began at the end of April. The fire and security system is installed and is now waiting for inspection.
