The students at the middle school, here at The Family Foundation School, have begun a service project this month. The project will last throughout the rest of April and all of May. They are collecting the pull-tabs from aluminum cans. The tabs will be donated to The Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The Ronald McDonald House collects these tabs and recycles them. They use the money for the things that families of children that are in the hospital may need, including toiletries, food, cab fare, lodging payments, and other expenses. The middle school students involved with this project are Jimmy S., Troy P., and Michael R.
The students here at FFS consume the most soda on Sundays. Each family will appoint two students to collect the tabs for their family. Students and staff can both participate by simply giving their tabs to the appointed tab collector. Parents may also donate can tabs. The project will be headed by Diane Geer.
The students will travel to the Ronald McDonald House in Scranton this June. They will deliver the tabs and receive a tour of the location. They may also do some volunteer work at the Ronald McDonald House.
“It is very fun and exciting,” says Jimmy. “It’s a great way to give back to people.” All of the middle school students are very excited about their project. “It feels good to help people,” Jimmy added. They’re all very eager to lend their help.
