The Family School Middle School has acquired fish that will be enjoying the rest of their lives in a 55-gallon freshwater tank.
Diane Geer, Middle School English teacher donated her fish tank to the Middle School after leaving Family Six, where the tank formerly resided.
Since the tank has been empty in the Middle School, the students are really excited to get some fish to take care of.
Geer will be getting the heater, hood lamps, gravel, and, of course, the fish so that the tank can be up and running before the end of May.
The students will start with simple fish. They will learn what it’s like having a pet, how to maintain them, the biology of the fish, as well as the importance of the ecosystem.
The idea came about when some of the Middle School students became friends with the pets in Woodcarving, and then started to ask about possibly getting pets for the Middle School, explained Geer.
