Family Five is beginning to deal with the effects of post-graduation. Nine students are leaving this June, many of whom had been a major support in the family: Heather G., Megan R., Vic C., Andrew C., Christian H., Pat M., Caitlin R., Justin N., and Mike W.
Many students are beginning to take on bigger roles in the family, trying their best to keep the family in order. “I talk every day with my sponsees and try to be a big support to the staff in my family and utilize their wisdom,” said student Sean C.
Andrew and Sean are seen as responsible senior guys in Family Five and have been given anchors by their family leaders.
Other students have been stepping up as well. John I. and Nate S. received buddying and shadowing. Josh K., Sarah B., and Larissa A. received junior sponsoring.
The family had their graduation party on June 12 at Gerald and Ann Janauer’s house. “It really showed how much I am going to miss all of my friends and family from this school, and we couldn’t have asked for a better party,” said Christian.
Many students “hit the books” this month in preparation for the Regents and final exams that marked the end of another academic year.
Family Five has also been going through some struggles this month and was recently put on blackout. “Even though there is discomfort in the family, I still see that people care about unity. However, there is still much improvement to be made,” said student Phil C.
Family Five also welcomed Rosie E. to the family from Family Seven. She has been an added support around the family.
Several trips have been scheduled for the upcoming summer break and students can’t wait to go.
