For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway tells the story of Robert Jordan, a young American serving in the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War.

While accompanying an anti-Facist guerrilla unit in the countryside Jordan discovers the truth about war. After coming across tough opposition, an uncooperative group of comrades, and love with a Spanish Native named Maria, Jordan finds that his mission may be a difficult one to complete.

This romantic story of love and war is a classic novel that is certainly worthwhile.
