The Scholar Athlete award is given to students who excel in school and sports.
On April 29, Family Foundation School students Andrew A. and Laura W. received awards for being scholar athletes in the State of New York.
Both Andrew and Laura are exceptional students who rank in the top four of their class. Andrew has a 94.41 grade point average and is ranked second. Laura has a grade point average of 92.7 and is ranked fourth. Laura said, “Receiving this award feels good because my hard work in school finally paid off.”
In addition to making exceptional grades, Laura played soccer and softball during her high school career; Andrew played soccer, basketball, and golf during his.
Both Andrew and Laura received the Scholar Athlete award from the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (O.C.I.A.A) at the annual banquet in Middletown, New York.
Andrew and Laura are among 56 other student athletes who received this award. Andrew said, “I feel honored to be among such a prestigious group of athletes and scholars…I never thought that I would actually feel as connected to New York as I do since I received this award.” The Scholar Athlete award is a great honor and is given exclusively to students who are very successful in both school and sports.
