On your mark, get set, GO!! On Sunday, May 31, eight Family Foundation School students and two staff traveled to Woodloch Pines Resort, in the Pocono Mountains, to participate in the annual Hope Cures Livestrong Race/Walk.

The students were John R, Frank D., Tom O., Andrew B., Megan R., Brenda M., Karen S., and Laura W. Staff members Tommy Cummings and James “Willy” Williamson joined the race as well.

The race is held annually by the Livestrong Foundation. This year there were more than 200 participants who helped raise over $10,000 for The Lance Armstrong Livestrong Foundation.

The 5k course wound through the resort and along the picturesque Lake Teddyuskung.

After the race there was an outdoor luncheon along with an award ceremony. Tom O. was the first FFS student to finish, coming in fourth place overall.

The students received a bag of free promotional items including a yellow running shirt, blue “Hope Cures” armbands, and water bottles.

“It was a beautiful day with perfect weather,” said Cummings. “It was a fun day, we ran for a good cause and we had a good purpose.” This race was the first of at least six races that students from FFS will be participating in this year.
