Why is it so quiet in the Middle School on Tuesday morning? Art teacher, Robin Ducey, said, “You can almost hear a pin drop during art class because the students are so focused.”
The Four middle school art students are working hard learning the basic techniques of watercolor painting and as they swish the paint around they ask questions like, “How do you make this color look like a gray-green?” or, “What color belongs in this spot?”
They studied all about the color wheel at the beginning of the semester and are now having fun mixing the watercolor paint on their pictures.
The Middle School had a recent display of their art work at the last Family Day and many people commented on their talent and ability. Jimmy S. from Family Four loves eagles and has painted two bright paintings, one an eagle in flight, and another an eagle portrait. Troy P. from Family Three has painted three wonderful pictures and is now doing one for Father Stephen. His favorites are portraits of animals.
Mike R. and Sapphire R. are new arrivals in art class and are diligently working on their first project. “We are looking forward to the summer months so we can get outside and paint,” said Ducey.
She will also be teaching art this summer to the high school students while Yuri is on vacation.
