Cast Away!

Every Sunday morning at 7 a.m., since the beginning of July, Scott Cole and several students go fishing at the Family Foundation School pond.

It all started with the question, “Hey, do you think if I got a couple of people interested in fishing, could you supervise us?” asked Matt S. of Lake House. This question was answered by Scott Cole, a social studies and gym teacher at FFS; with an exuberant “I’d be more than happy to.”

Not only are the students fishing for entertainment, but Cole decided to keep record of the largest fish caught and how many were caught.

So far, Zeke G. of Mann House and Matt W. of Lake House are tied for the largest fish measuring approximately 20 inches. Matt S. is leading with seven fish, which is the record for fish caught.

For most of the students, it is more than fishing that appeals to them. “Fishing gives me a chance to chill with good friends,” said Nelsan B. of Lake House. “It starts my day on a good note.”
