After four rigorous tryouts, coaches James “Willy” Williamson and Carlton Williams have selected 19 starters, five alternates, and two managers to represent the 2009 Family School boys’ soccer team.
Williamson, who is coaching for the Falcons for the first time, and Williams are both experienced soccer coaches. “I am nervous to take over as head coach, but I am very excited to work with Carlton,” said Williamson.
Scott MacDonald and Donna Broce are the Lady Falcons soccer coaches for the fall 2009 season. Both MacDonald and Broce are anticipating the upcoming season that started on August 29, 2009.
Broce said, “I expect the ladies to not only try their best on the field but to be doing vigorous program work and performing well academically. This will make the team strong; getting lazy in their program work, academically, or physically will weaken the whole team, not just the individual.”
Both of the assistant coaches believe that it is more than just soccer. “I want all of the players not only to learn something about the sport, but also to gain knowledge of themselves,” said Williams. “In return, I hope to learn something about all of them.”
Williamson has five players returning for a second season: Ignacio A., Josh R., Thomas O., Max R., and Marc S. MacDonald has four players returning: Alyssa C., Shari E., Ann Nicole H., and Karen S.
