Alena T.
Program Grad. June ’09
Alena T. was sent to the school for the way she acted at home towards her family. She was disrespectful, manipulative, abused substances, and was very untrustworthy.
On August 31, 2007 Alena arrived at The Family Foundation School and enrolled in Family Three (now known as Lake House).
Alena wasted about one year of her stay before deciding to take a real look at herself.
She was put on a lot of sanctions some of which included blackout and dress-down, and she was in and out of the corner constantly.
When she did start to take a look at herself, she started to get involved with cheerleading, soccer, and softball. Her stay got easier and she developed a positive attitude towards things.
After consistently doing the right thing, she had the opportunity to leave the school in June ‘09 as a program graduate, eligible to attend Lutheran High School in her hometown on Long Island.
Some of her current hobbies are horseback riding and shopping with friends. She stays sober by going to AA meetings several times a week and listening to the advice of her sponsor.
She recently finished a summer job at a camp for disabled children and now works as a restaurant hostess in Northport, N.Y.
