A Familiar Song

“Hancock Central, we salute you,
School we loved so well.
We, thy sons and daughters faithful,
Ever your praise will tell.”

Several Family Foundation School staff members took part in a blast from the past by recording their high school’s Alma Mater (first stanza lyrics shown above), on Tuesday, September 22, for the Hancock Central School (HCS).

The Booster Club of HCS requested that the alumni put together a recording of the song to play before sports games, in hopes of raising school spirit. Paddy Morgan-Rosas, a member of the Booster Club, realized that not many students knew the Alma Mater and thought that the recording would be a perfect way of restoring the tradition.

FFS kitchen staff and HCS alumnus Kara Wormuth was one of the singers in the chorus. “It was nice to hear that the school wanted to revive the song for the students, and we didn’t sound half-bad either,” she said.

Paul Geer, music director and participating alumnus, facilitated and finalized the recording. He and all who were involved wish the HCS Booster Club the best, and were proud to be of service to the school they loved so well.
