In the Spotlight – Robin Morgan-North

September 15, 2009

Robin Morgan-North didn’t have any idea how close of a fit the position of Director of Nursing would be at the Family Foundation School.

A resident of Livingston Manor, Morgan-North has been nursing for many years in psychiatrics, detoxification, and corrections.

In her previous position as a Public Health Nurse in Sullivan County, Morgan-North saw many teens that needed help beyond that which she could give them.

Then she saw the ad for the FFS position in the paper.

“I said, ‘Wow, I can do this!’”

As Morgan-North is a very spiritual person, she prayed on the decision to interview.

“Every area of nursing that I’ve been involved in has come into my life for a reason. It all comes full circle,” said Morgan-North.

Ms. Morgan-North also has personal motivation to work at FFS. The mother of two teenage boys, she understands what it’s like to have children who don’t want to talk, especially after experiencing divorce.

Morgan-North sees working at FFS as a way to help teens like her children. Now she’s found a way to really help.

She loves table topics because, as she said, “Everybody has something to learn. I also learn when kids are at a table topic.”

Once settled, Morgan-North will be a member of Smith House. But before she does so, the new nurse will spend her lunch times with all five of the other houses in order to get to know the students and other staff members in the school.
