Betton House’s strength was tested this month by being given many new students. “Some people see new challenges as a bother, but I am enjoying reaching out and helping our newcomers,” says Dave K. Their new students are Andrew G. from Lake House, Kate P. from Talbot House, and Jesse G. from Smith House. Kate says that the students in Betton House were very welcoming, and immediately reached out to help her.

They also welcomed new student Zach N. from Yorktown Heights, Matt W. is his buddy.

To assist their new students, Ricky S. received shadowing, and Patty R. received junior sponsoring. Joe C. received an anchor, and is strongly upholding his principles while becoming a role model for others in the family.

The students enjoyed the pizza party at that they won in the house challenges, and bonded from the experience. “I ate all the pizza that I could and enjoyed every moment” says Andrew G. Betton House used this opportunity to drop their walls and begin close, friendly relationships with their new students.

This month Betton house started an interesting new tradition. Every Monday night during dinner, they host an AA workshop, where students take turns teaching the rest of their family one of the steps. They share what the step means to them, and how it has affected them. After attending an AA convention, Elizabeth K. and Georgia P. are sure to have a lot of new things to teach the family.
