With Labor Day festivities and the fall musical, September has been a busy month for Mann House. Several Mann House students participated in the musical, “My Favorite Year,” including Rebecca B., Josh W., Phil P., Chris L., Brian O., and Rebecca C. In addition, the Labor Day race was also successful for Mann House. Runners Rebecca C., Rebecca B., Evan H., Chris L., Phil P., JT H., Kevin B., and Nicole H. pushed themselves and came in second place.
Mann House Family Leader, Joe Petriella, is happy with the direction his family is going. “We have changes with some new kids coming in, but the transition is going well.” Students also have been adjusting to the changes occurring recently, getting responsibilities in the family, and helping out around the school. Chris L. received his second buddy, Jordan N., giving him the opportunity to pass on what he has learned at FFS to another person. Brian O. also received buddy and shadowing inside his family, allowing him to help support the boys.
Since Mann House has a small number of girls, Joslyn P. of Lake House spent a week in the house helping out. “There are a lot of good things going on in Mann House right now and I am really grateful that I got the opportunity to help out this family,” she said. Mann House has also welcomed four new members who have moved from other houses. Jeff W., Raven S., Sarah V., and Anna R. switched this month to Mann House for a fresh start.
Zeke G., a Mann House student graduating in December, switched internships. He now works alongside John Broce( JB) in woodcarving, carving, painting, and helping other students with their work. Zeke is grateful for the position and said, “Working with JB is a lot of fun.”
