The Family Foundation School Falcons beat Eldred in their first league game on a sunny Thursday afternoon by a score of 7-1, giving them their fifth win for the season.
At the 31-minute mark, forward Yves K. took a pass from midfielder Max R. and slammed the ball into the upper left corner of the goal, which zoomed by the goalie’s arm, making the score 1-0, Falcons. The remainder of the first half was scoreless.
The Falcons came out fired up and ready to play, following their halftime talk.
After the first 21 seconds of the second period, forward Blake J. went through a defender and gave forward Evan H. a leading pass in which Evan scored, dribbling pass the goalie.
“The goal changed the momentum of the game and the increase of our chemistry was evident,” said midfielder Tom O. Shortly after, Blake scored from a leading pass sent by Evan.
At the 8-minute mark of the second half, Yves scored again with a placement shot in the bottom left-side of the net, on a cross from Blake. Minutes later, Evan scored from the right side due to midfielder Sean C.’s crisp leading pass.
The Falcons were racking up goals, but the Eldred Yellowjackets didn’t give up. Halfway through the last period, Eldred’s Dean Olcott scored from just outside the left side of the box, making it a 5 to 1 game.
The Falcons continued to score with persistence. Late in the game, Blake faked out an Eldred midfielder with a step-over move and then scored from 20 yards out. With only nine minutes left in the game, Sean passed the ball to Max, who smashed the ball past the goalie which ended the game at a score of 7-1, Falcons.
“It is just a testament of our unity and dedication. Our theme has been discipline for the program, the team, and ourselves,” said head coach, James Williamson.
