Megan R.

Class of June ’09

Megan R. came back on September 13 to speak at an AA meeting. After graduating in June, Megan traveled throughout Boston, NYC, and Washington DC. She has been working at a restaurant and recently started school at Hunter College.

Megan arrived at The Family School on December 6, 2007. She struggled with many addictions before coming to the school and it took her a long time to start working. Megan was in Family Five (Smith House) during her stay and over time began to trust her sponsor and the girls in her family. Megan received the honor of being Student of the Month, and during her last six months worked as a journalism intern.

AA has become a way of life for Megan, who attends meetings regularly. She spends her time having fun with young people in the fellowship. Megan has changed the way she deals with situations and doesn’t attempt to control the circumstances in her life. Her advice to students is to take advantage of this program of action. “Wanting it isn’t enough,” she added.
