Father Liz Groskoph officiated at the blessing of the animals this month, an annual Family Foundation School tradition that took place outside the chapel on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, October 6.
This year “Jaeda,” a Boxer belonging to staff member Dane B., was the only animal to be blessed in person.
Other staff and students showed up with pictures of their pets. They included Josh W.’s Golden Retriever “Peanut,” Nicole K.’s Love Bird named “Sweetie,” and Tony W.’s kitten “Bella.”
Deceased pets including Turner L.’s “Sasha” and Dawne Passemato’s “Mullen” were also remembered during the service, which consisted of the hymn “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” and readings from Genesis and the Psalms.
“I felt a peaceful feeling and was happy to see how the students felt about their animals back home” said Possemato.
