A trip on October 18 to the waterfalls at Watkins Glen State Park; two new anchors, Lexi S. and Diego N.; and a commitment to learning how to be a family are the major activities in Lake House this month. “We’re keeping our stuff together; everyone has their hard times, but the family is really pulling together to help each other out,” said Lexi, a senior member in Lake House.

“It [Watkins Glen] was fun and a good bonding opportunity,” said Erika C., also a senior member. Watkins has 19 waterfalls to hike around and picnic tables at the top of the glen for lunch. Lake House was given the trip as their long delayed reward for winning the house challenges back in July.

Commenting on his new RA status, Diego N. said, “I feel proud and committed.” This is not the first time Lexi has been given an anchor; she was an RA while in Talbot House. “I made it a goal to get it back… I care about what I’m doing now; this time, it’s not for the title,” she said.

“Lake House has had difficulty recently in committing to develop the brother-sister bonding relationships that are available to people living as family. It’s time for staff and students to reach out to each other more,” said Chris Stein, Lake House family leader.
