Talbot House planned a special event for the family this month. Jan Cheripko threw the house a formal, multi-course dinner in the middle school. The purpose of the dinner was to teach the students about proper eating and dining.
The menu consisted of Italian dishes prepared by the students. “The students of Talbot House are known for their sloppy eating, so this dinner was an effort to teach them proper eating habits and have fun at the same time,” says Matt V.
“The dinner actually turned out better than I expected. There was a tremendous amount of work put in by everyone, and it was definitely worth it in the end,” said Henry W.
Many students are making program progress in the house. Alyssa C. received buddy and shadowing and got a new buddy, Lindsay R. Kevin D. was also given buddy and shadow privileges, and Dave M. was given his second buddy Daniel P.
The Family Singers visited Hancock this month to perform at a reception for state Senator John Bonacic. Talbot House members involved were Matt V., Liam M., Nick P., and Zane M. They also traveled to Albany to perform the song “Move Mountains” with composer Tim Janis for PBS television, and have begun rehearsal for the Winter Performance.
The house has been preparing for the upcoming Halloween dance and several students have tried out for the basketball team. They include Jack S., Pat M., Brooke C., Lindsay R., and Kate D. Henry W. and Austin C. have been helping out with the boys’ tryouts as well.
