Ron H.
Alumnus of 1984
Ron H. lived at The FamÂily from 1981 until 1984, before it was a school. He did farm work and worked at the Center for Discovery, a program for students with cerebral palsy. Though he learned very much at The Family, Ron had not hit his bottom yet and continued on his destructive path after he left.
On July 15, 1995, Ron was sent to prison and did not use again. He stayed in jail for 14 years, had two heart attacks, and was released in November of 2008. Prison was a terrifying experience for Ron, who chose not to use in prison though he had the opportunity to do so. His health problems led him to a stronger spiritual life and a realization of the importance of a higher power.
Since his release from prison, he has been clean and sober, and has a strong message to send to all the students at The Family Foundation School: Trust God in all things and he will provide. Ron does not work; rather he collects disability checks and spends the majority of his time spreading his experience, strength and hope to all he encounters.
