Eric K.
Class of December ‘08
Eric K. arrived at The Family Foundation School on July 2, 2007. He was mandated here because of legal issues. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because his life was full of drugs, stealing, lying, and disrespecting authority. His hardest time at the school was letting down his tough guy image and being honest with himself. In his last semester he became Millie Triff’s intern and often helped to lead classes. Throughout his stay he did not have many struggles with defiance because of his mandating; but as time went on he made the decision that he wanted to live a sober life.
Eric is now attending Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa. He lives in a house with a couple of other sober roommates. He also works at the Sheraton Hotel as an event planner, which involves setting up weddings, birthday parties, etc. in the ballroom. Life has been good for him. After he graduated he sometimes found it difficult to deal with life on life’s terms sober, but staying involved with the program and going to meetings every day keeps him sane. His advice to struggling students at the school is “get honest, even though it’s really difficult.”
