Dennis S.
Alumnus of 1984
Dennis S. arrived at “The Family” in 1984 when he was a high school freshman. His parents had decided they had enough of his bad behavior and would send him to Mike and Betty Argiros’ home for troubled kids. Dennis left The Family about a year later and continued on with high school. His drug use and drinking progressed as the years went on.
After high school he joined the military and traveled all around the world. Drinking became a consistent thing for him, but he put it on the back burner because he was successful in the service. He had many achievements in the military, but as his problems progressed he was discharged.
Dennis’s behavior eventually landed him in jail and when his sentence was over he decided to dive into the program of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Going to meetings and relying on friends in the program has kept Dennis sober. “Using took away everything that I cared about: my hotrods, motorcycles, and even my little girl.” He is now building a closer relationship with his daughter and enjoying his favorite hobbies. Dennis’s advice to the students of The Family Foundation School is to take what knowledge you gain from here and use it when you leave.
