Down comes the wrecking ball!…Now that the obstacles of a budget shortfall have been overcome and all the asbestos in the old building have been safely removed, some real work on the new Lourdes Clinic has begun. On October 20, the citizens of Hancock took their last look at the Wheeler and McGranahan buildings before they were reduced to rubble by the Gorick Company. With the buildings gone, construction can finally begin. The only thing standing in the way is the requirement of a building permit from the village, and a Certificate of Need from the New York State Department of Health.
