Ten Family Foundation School students participated in the season’s first debate tournament at the Hancock Central High School in November. The tournament was co-hosted by Hancock and FFS.

The FFS team included Joanna B., Brooke C., Ted W., Ben B., Ted M., Rebecca B., Brendan O., Evan P., Evan H., and Brian S.

The students competed in Public Forum Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Dramatic Interpretation, and Extemporaneous.

Public Forum and Lincoln-Douglas are events in which debaters face each other and argue both sides of a predetermined topic. Dramatic Interpretation and Original Interpretation are events in which the students read and interpret literary works and are judged on how well they perform.

Approximately 100 students representing nine schools participated in the tournament.

After the events there was an award ceremony in the auditorium. Joanna B. received third place in Lincoln-Douglas, while Brooke C. came in first. Evan P. and Evan H. took first in Public Forum, with Brendan O. and Rebecca B. coming in second, and Ted M. and Brian S. coming in third.
