All together now... The Lake House boys give the Rockettes a run for their money at the talent show.
By Brooke C.
At the turn of the year, Lake House and Smith House merged to form a new Lake House, living in the old Smith House space. During this past month, the families have utilized the winter break to their advantage, becoming closer as a family by bonding over the holiday activities and participating in the House Challenge. They took first place in the Talent Show and second place overall.
The family has been busy switching staff, changing rooms and dorms, and connecting with new junior sponsors and sponsees.
Getting used to these changes is going to be difficult, and some of the students are having a hard time, but they remain hopeful that their efforts are going to work out for the best. When asked about the merging of the families, Kevin S. stated, “It’s hard getting used to, but I think it’s going to be pretty chill.” However, some Lake House students are already seeing the benefits. As Mike R. said, “Having more people to chill with in the family is great.”
All of these changes are making Lake House a very strong and prominent family in The Family Foundation School. Now, Lake House has five R.A.’s: Larissa A., Erika C., Pierce S., Brian S. and Aaron Z., three of whom have received their anchors in this past month (Pierce, Brian, and Aaron.) The family also has five interns: Cajai F. in Admissions, Josh K. in Campus Life, Aaron interning in maintenance, Brian working in the kitchen, and Denise T. working in the Phys. Ed. department.
The old Lake House family leaders Chris Stein and Audra Towsley are continuing as the new Lake House leaders. Pete and Caren Jacques, the previous Smith House family leaders, are now in Lake House where Caren works as the counselor for the family and Pete helps preside over the family’s daily activities.
