Betton House students have made it through the holidays with smiles on their faces. Though many thought it would be a quiet holiday because a large group of students were on visits, the holidays were cheerful and certainly not quiet.
Betton House especially enjoyed the many activities over winter break. “The shopping trip was fun because I got to bond with all the girls in my family,” said student Liz K. Opening presents was full of laughter, especially guessing who bought for whom.
Along with celebrating the holidays, Betton House worked hard on their entries for the New Year’s talent and art show. The art table was full of crocheted hats, clay sculptures, and colorful paintings created by various students. “The response to the art show was amazing,” said family leader and creativity class leader Robin Ducey.
Their talent show dance had the crowd cracking up when students Valentina A., Zach N., Jimmy G., and Patty R. tapped around the stage in sombreros accompanied by a dancing bull (played by Max Z. and Troy P.). “My inner bull came out while on stage,” said Max. The final scores landed them in third place.
On New Year’s Day, staff and students went around the table and shared their resolutions for the year to come.
Overall Betton House has adjusted well after December graduation considering they said goodbye to one of their senior members, Georgia P. Though they lost an anchor, they soon gained another when Luke V. received one shortly before break.
With staff moving families, Betton House welcomed Nanci Newcomb and Bob and Susan Runge from Lake House. The Family has adjusted well and hopes to keep going in the right direction.
