Alena T.
Program Grad. June ‘09
Alena T. arrived at The Family Foundation School miserable and out of control. However, after almost two years of hard work, she has a life that she is proud of.
Alena arrived at The Family School on August 31, 2007, and left on June 27, 2009. She was placed in Family Three, and spent her entire stay there. During her days in Family Three her sponsor was Ann Kozak, who helped her through her roughest times, seeing her at her worst and her best.
Along with Kozak, the two people that helped her the most were Chris Stein and Susan Runge. Even after all of the rough times Alena went through at FFS, there are some things that she misses about it: her old sponsor and the unique honesty that exists only at the school.
Alena had her struggles at The Family School which she summarized as, “Staying in the day…and boys.” She is still learning to overcome both to develop the life she wants today. As of now, she attends a private school and cheerleads as a hobby. She goes to meetings and practices the steps in her everyday life. Her advice to the newcomer is, “Get honest and give the steps a try. If you don’t like them, your misery will be gladly refunded.”
