Nat L.

Class of June ‘09

Nat L. arrived at The Family Foundation School on January 26, 2007 because of anger and problems with dishonesty. He enrolled in Family Seven, now known as Talbot House. His sponsor was Jan Cheripko who helped him in ways that he could not have imagined, such as working with others, opening up, and being honest.

Nat started to take these ideals seriously his last year at the school before he graduated in June ’09. “I got really tired of living dishonestly, and my life was difficult and miserable,” said Nat when describing his first year and a half at the school.

Today, Nat attends Montclair State University, majoring in music therapy. He is not in a 12-Step program but has what he referred to as a “sanity sponsor” who keeps him in line. He is really involved with music today, especially his guitar, and hopes to have that as his career one day. His message to the newcomer: “Take advantage of the time you’ve got. Don’t give up if things get rough. Try experimenting with others and listen to what they have to say.”
