Andrew S.
Class of June ’08
Andrew S. lived a life full of deceit and manipulation that was typical of others who were sent to The Family Foundation School. “I was close to being a pathological liar,” said Andrew. At first he was resistant to change. “I wouldn’t let anybody help me, so I suffered the consequences,” he said.
Andrew’s turning point came when a different way of life was presented by his sponsor J.B. and old Family Eight. This new way of life, seemed better than anything he could do on his own, so he ran with it. Andrew graduated in June 2008 after 16 months at The Family School and has been sober ever since. “I go to 12-Step meetings on a regular basis, I have a sponsor, I go to school and study mathematics, and I enjoy life more than I ever thought I could,” said Andrew. His biggest piece of advice to students is to “trust the process, don’t try to accomplish too much too fast, and give time… time.” The thing he misses most about The Family School is “the fact that it’s a completely judgment-free environment and it’s very simple.”
