Based on a true story, “The Blind Side” is a rags-to-riches, heartwarming and loving film that is sure to keep a smile on your face. Early in the movie, the protagonist, Michael Oher, is introduced as a poor, unwanted and lost individual. Oher is admitted into a highly prestigious private school mainly due to his astonishing athletic ability.
Out of nowhere, the Tuohy family notices him walking in the rain with nowhere to go and decides to take him in. Through camaraderie and tough times, the Tuohy family treats Oher as one of their own. After raising his G.P.A. from 0.6 to 1.8, Oher’s grades are good enough for him to try out when football season starts. At first, he is fairly confused about his role on the field and doesn’t know what to do, but with guidance from his coach and his adopted mother, he receives scholarship offers from some of the best colleges in the country.
All looks well for Oher until an NCAA investigator convinces him that the Tuohy family had ulterior motives for taking him in. As a result, he faces some personal misfortunes, but it doesn’t take him long to realize that he is making foolish choices. He makes the decision to go to college where he receives a full scholarship to play football.
